I am sure they are ok struts and a great company to deal with @ http://www.primechoiceautoparts.com. Few people have had them on this site and no one has complained about them OR REALLY posted much about them .

My reason is I have swapped struts out of other cars many... of times and it shouldnt be any different removing the springs on my explorer. I see the quick strut market where you just unbolt the stock stuff and put the new stuff in. But removing a spring really isnt hard with a spring compressor.

At 63k miles the mount and spring should be in fine condition . As of now my struts up front are leaking.

I was also wondering about the spring rate/ quality versus ford springs. Monroe's are a name brand and I am not sure where strutteks are made.

I ordered the front 2 monroes from rock auto for 150$ ( vs 200$ locally). And I got some other parts while I was shopping there. Struttek raised their price to 92$ each.

So if anyone with struttek struts wants to chime in and tell their story do so!.

Thanks
JAKE

I noticed that they raised the price. I'm going to go with the Struttek's. Good luck with your project.

^ I am sure you will keep us updated on them!

Yeah, once I get them installed I'll be sure to keep everyone posted!

Strutek's are made in China. Some have replaced them as an assembly because the springs have been reported to break. If the spring is broken, probably just as easy to install a Strut/Spring Assy. Your call.

Monro says to change struts every 50,000 miles. Not sure if that's just a way to get you to buy more of their product or if the parts will only last 50k. If you need to change them every 50K might as well buy the cheap ones.

^ I see your point.

The rear springs are known to break on the eariler years (02 ). I have a 04.

The quick strut is nice and easy to replace, not much messing around . Most of the time when you replace the struts, the mounts are pretty worn.

Can't imagine every 50K on struts. My factory struts have 86K and is still going strong. I'm inclined to replace the whole unit and not mess with the spring compressor and the mounts. I seem to remember reading here that someone had issues with the seat mounts being worn or some difficulty with positioning during reassembly. Save yourself time.

I just put 4 new struts on from primechoiceauto and obviously for now they are just fine. Have no idea about longevity but time will tell. The price for 4 of these versus the monroes was quite a bit of savings. I hope for my sack they last.

Did the Struttek's on all four corners. Did the rears in August, and had to wait for stock on the fronts which I did in early October. So far happy with the ride, and Primechoice was great on customer service/shipping, and nothing comparable out there for the price.

Thanks for the replies.

No problem. I don't think you can go wrong using these. Ride is like new, no more body roll in the corners and the shocks seem to be valved correctly for the truck.
Regards-

My dad just put 2 new quick stuts on his 02, got them from RockAuto.com
I believe they were about $170 each, and they fit perfectly.

At the same time he also had to replace lower ball joints, both front hubs, and the drivers axle shaft..

Have they settled to the same height as stock?

Have they settled to the same height as stock?

I bought the truck with 106k on it, and that plus the fact it had a bad strut and broken spring in the back I'm sure it was low/sagging. I measured the back before and after and it raised the back almost 2", I have not rechecked it yet. In the front I picked up 1/2", so assuming this was pretty close to when the truck rolled off the assembly line.

Just ordered the fronts from Primechoiceautoparts. I have had the rears on now for 4000 miles, mud, rocks, rain swamps they are good for the price.

Rears were slightly more difficult to install for me. I was able to use my impact on the front top strut nuts, but was forced to back off the rears by hand. I ended up sawzalling what I could get to on the rears. That was really the most time consuming part of install. One other thing I learned after doing the rears - I found I could hand tighten the top 3 nuts and rotate the strut slightly to align the bottom through bolt - they will rotate, and in my case they did not line up 100% out of the box.

Can you elaborate on that milladog? You said "good for the price". Is there something particular that you don' t like or makes them inferior to higher end struts?

StrutTEK's arrived today! Will post a full review after they are installed.

Got the StrutTEK's installed on the rear. Holy crap, rides like a brand new truck!

Gained a full 3", but both rear springs were broken. I expect it to settle down over time. Going to be getting a set for the front. I will post up the performance, longevity as time goes by. Great bang for the buck, IMHO. :D
