My stock PCV valve sticks up straight. The new one I got (Fram, it's the # they recommend for my X), looks like this:

I have the top hole plugged since there is only 1 tube. When I put it in, I had to cut the tube about 1/4" because it doesn't bend very much. Now it's on, but isn't pushed down all the way into the valve cover. Not sure if this is a probem... Is it? Is there a better PCV Valve I could get that's more similar to the stock one?

Just go with a motorcraft. No worries that way.

From your other thread.
Yours may be different, but my PCV valve had the hose fitting pointing straight up.
However every book I've looked at says the correct PCV valve is one with side facing fittings that don't leave enough room for the hose without crimping it.
So I use the part number for 95+ and everything is fine.

Yeah, I think it was one of your posts that I read about using a 95. It's weird Fram makes both kinds but says the side-facing is best. Anyways, it's a cheap fix so I'm gonna get one pretty soon. Thanks again!

In other makes

that have the metal body with the added plastic tree, you can just pull off the plastic section and it becomes the straight up valve.

Thanks, I just replaced it by removing the tree. I was thinking about doing that but the tree seemed pretty hard to remove, so I thought it was glued on. I had to duct tape my tube back together to get the proper length, but everything's fine now. Thanks!

Another way to do it is just use a longer piece of tubing. I used a longer piece let it "loop" around.. and now it fits fine.
