I'm not sure but I do know that there is no way in hell, without dropping the axle, to get at that ABS gizzo so I'm thinking it's that way from the factory. Anyway what I'm going to do is add the 4 ozs of friction modifier and top it off with 75/90 goo.
The rear sensor is actually very easy to get to. Just drop the spare or remove the passenger tire and its easily accessible. Took 5 mins when my speed sensor crapped out.

I'll give that a try. I dropped the spare and that didn't seem to help. I will try removing the driver side wheel and see what that does. From what I have seen in the mirror it looks like the sensor is on the driver's side.
Update. I drained the rear end and then added 4 oz. of Ford friction modifier and about 1.5 quarts of 75/140 gear oil until it started to run out of the fill hole. The read end seems much quieter now, no whine. Still can't find how to get at the top of the diffy to add the extra so I think I'll just let that sleeping dog lie.
BTW, I was also wondering if anyone would happen to have the part number for a new vent tube hose, or if I could just use any old rubber hose of the same size without any issue. Thanks.
It might be. I'll have to do some checking under there. The oil is fairly thick and I'm not sure I can get it to flow without some way for air to escape. Thanks for the idea. I'll post results if I try it.
Since it is just a vent tube for the diff, I can't see why you couldn't use a section of rubber hose such as a length of heater hose to replace the factory vent tube with. Would save you a few bucks over buying a factory replacement I would think.
