Disconnecting air conditioning. (higher mpg)

I suggest you try reading your owner's manual.

Reading the manual? Why they would such a horrible thing? :D

You are absolutely right, the manual says clearly when the A/C is running and even the reason - dehumidification.

I am going to delete my fog lights and convert the fog light switch to an ac on/off toggle switch. I am also converting the air ride switch into a kill switch, as I have already deleted the factory air ride system and installed gas shocks, and an additional leaf spring in the rear.

Actually you are mistaken. With the Explorer (and I imagine other Fords) the A/C compressor can run in an setting except VENT and FLOOR. I suggest you try reading your owner's manual.

IMO this is not a serious thread. The starting premise of the thread was that people should literally disable their a/c compressors because the compressor is designed to turn on by itself at any time. Control unit set to Vent? The compressor will come on. Control unit set to Off? The compressor will come on. Ridiculous! ;)

lobo411 you are wrong. Set it on VENT and you will have no compressor. None at all, zero, zilch.
If is different, something is wrong with your car.

Ya I know, but unless I misread the first few posts, the original poster thought that the a/c compressor was always on and that's why he wanted to disable it entirely. Crazy!

Ah, sorry, I misunderstand you.

You guys crack me up. You act as though the Ford electrical system is somehow reliable. ha ha ha ha
