disconnecting airbag sensors

I'm doing front end work on my 2000 ford explorer. I was wondering if I can disconnect the airbag sensors or if they would go off when I disconnect them. I may need to move them so I need to know.

You can unplug them with no problem. Just to be sure unhook battery first.
