Well I ditched the add a leafs and blocks this weekend.
Previsouly I was running some 4 door Explorer leaf springs with Superlift short add a leafs and Superlift 3" tappered blocks.
This gained my approx 3" of lift once the add a leafs flattened out.
It is a myth that Explorer leaf springs on a BII give you 2" of lift, dont believe it, the Explorer leafs are flat and the BII stock leafs ar arched.
So a few months ago I won some $$$$ and I bought a new set of Skyjacker 4" lift leaf springs for a BII. They sat around for 6 months but this weekend I finally had a chance to install them....
WOW! what a difference! Those add a leafs rode like crap! My truck actually flexes in the rear again! I had forgotten how much better properly rated springs ride! The rear axle wrap up I had (4.0L, custom auto, 4.10 gears, L/S, 31's) is gone! What a joy! I also gained about 5" of lift, but I am sure some of that will sag..
So if you ask me the blocks did effect the ride quite a bit, I am sure the add a leafs were tha main cluprit to the stiff ride quality but the blocks were responsible for the axle wrap up for sure (as we all know).
Best $$$$ I spent in a long time, now to ditch my crappy shocks, they are limiting my travel big time!!!
We shall see how they hold up when towing a #3000 boat.........I will be adding Rancho 9000's to help out.......
