My 99 XLT SOHC had the muffler replaced 3 years ago, and now one of the hangers broke off and also took a chunk of the muffler with it, so now I have a noisy truck.
Anyway, the shop that replaced it 3 years ago said I can get the muffler replaced for free, and only pay for labor, about $65.
However, the resonator and pipe assembly is still original, and the mechanic said that might have to be replaced because it looks bad. If thats the case, it could cost me over $250 for everything.
I just looked online at Advanced Autoparts and I can get all the parts for $149 with the special promo codes they offer. I'm wondering is it hard to replace the exhaust, has anyone done it and can offer tips?
Also on my muffler, there are 2 inlets, one is flanged and the other is a pipe.
Is there a gasket that goes on the flange, or is it just a tapered end that does not require one?
Thanks in advance.
