so i was thinking of orderning this paint kit. i need to re paint the fenders, they are red and need to be black.

do i need to use a primer for this? or can it go over the factory paint?

this doesnt have to be the greatest job,its going on a trail rig. i just want it to match.

i dont have a gun, so this would be done with a roller (dense foam). would it still work you think?

its going on this:

I roll it on other things all the time and it levels really well, but always have used it on things that lie flat. Give it a try. Keep it full strength to minimize runs and stick to a 3" roller. Might take two coats.

I would try this and then put the Paintshop clearcoat on it.

It's a one step system with no reducers or anything. I haven't tried it yet but it's supposed to be very good.

oh, and with this i dont need to prime? what about scuff the paint up?

i will order some today.

edit: here is the clear, they also have primer.. http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?autofilter=1&part=SHW-BSP300&N=700+115&autoview=sku

with all 3 im at 60$..

im goint to try an enamel first, because i think it will be more durable in several coats rather than an oil base. thanks for your help though

yikes! thats quite the damage!

if i was you though, i'd fix everything that was functional (glass, turn signal, cowl plastic) and just leave the dents. you know, war scars. ;)

let me know how that paintshop stuff goes! i want to use it on my '69 chevy. (am i allowed to say chevy here? :p:)

it is fixed, thats a before picture. i have new fenders new windshield and door, rear qp glass. it will be street legal within the next month :)
