I'm not throwing any codes. A while back the T vacuum connector on my purge solenoid broke, so I just bypassed it, and capped the port at the throttle body, and left the exit hose on the canister box open. No idle issues, no surging or sputtering.
In Texas, they don't run a smog check, just a basic safety inspection, so they don't care.
Does this affect my vehicle in any way, bypassing it? I'm driving a 1994 Explorer, so it's not like being green is on my mind.
I'm thinking more like fuel economy, or long term effects on the engine.

All the evap system does is store gas fumes in the canister and then burns the fumes after they are drawn into the engine by way of engine vacuum. No damage will result if the system is not functioning.

Well, you could look at it as throwing away Gasoline you paid for already.
I would replace the broken connector and keep the system working, It keeps the gasoline smell down if you park in a garage as well.

My new to me 94 has a broken purge valve, same as yours. In the course of getting it back on the road (after 7 years of being parked) I had a few vacuum leaks, found this & plugged the throttle body so I could move on.

I've put 500 mikes on it now & whenever I park it I smell gas. After I get the suspension sorted I'll put on a new purge valve. I'm not comfortable leaving the charcoal canister with vapor/raw fuel in it.
