Hi guys im am in the process fo doing my second timing chain replacment (not the same explorer) and i have come across a problem.
First of all i found that the right hand camshaft was scored on one of the lobes and the rocker was laying in the oil gulley and wasnt in the best of shape. I tested the compression on that cylinder and found it to be ok so fitted new camshaft and rocker and moved onto the other camshaft where i found the corrosponding lobe was not scored but worn a little but the rocker was still in place.
Obviously the timing got out of sink and the valves hit the pistons. My question is should i test compression and if fine just set timing and see how it runs or should i pull the motor and rebuild?

Do the motors hole the pistons?
Do the valves bend?
Is the rocker lying in the oil gulley normal failure mode?

Thanks for reading
