I had planned on a tune-up and changing the rear pads and maybe rotors. Well one of the students at work(I work at a dealership GM) offered to do it on one of my late nights so I said what the heck..better than a cold garage at home. Well...he pulled the one wheel off and found an axle seal leaking. So he asked if I would like to put new e-brake shoes in and seals...I said yes. Five minutes later he asks me to come out and look at the rear end.
It looked like there was 3 gallons of YooHoo in the thing
..evidently the RTV on the cover was rather lacking and it had filled with water over the last 200k. Took a look at the thing after a ton of flushing and surprisingly it was OK...a little play in the spider gears which I will probably replace sooner than later but overall not bad.
Then he pulled the sparkplugs which were all over .100 gap
since the electrodes had worn down so far.
He changed the pads, rotors, seals, plugs, pcv, fuel filter and wires......It runs great now and I'm hoping the mpg increases a little....
