I am kinda stumped on what to do. I went looking for wheel u-joints and the guy told me that there are 2 sizes. I have a stock 4x4 1993 Ford Explorer. What size u joints do I need to complete my front end rebuild.

You will need the axle ratio. The parts guy will be able to determine the size with that number. If not, Ford will be able to so you can get aftermarket u joints.

where is this number located

IS this number on your tag inside the door and what does the number start out with a number and a letter or all numbers. Thanks for getting back to me so soon

If you have a chiltons your vin code will tell you. The tag should also have the gear ratio on it, if the tag is still there.

Frred you are looking for a number like 41,42 or D1, D4. Does that help.

If you are talking about the axleshaft u-joint then you want a Spicer 297 series u-joint.

thanks everyone

Thanks for the help and I will be going to get the stuff for my front end rebuld this weekend. The upper and lower ball joints are getting replaced and the axle u joints are also getting replaced.:D I have a guy that lives across the street from my brother who gave me a real good price to do it and I jumped on it.
