Not for '06 yet. It'll be only a matter of time before more aftermarket mods creep in since this is a redesign year. There MIGHT be some cheapo intake setups on eBay, but so many of those look cheap and you could probably rig something up yourself and they'd look the same. My guess is K&N or MAC will be first. Maybe Volant. Hang tight.

It used to be supply and demand -- Well the demand is there and where are the suppliers -- Find an 06 in the town where you design the product and make the buyers happy -- So Sorry -- I was using my marketing background
I guess they just don't want to make the dollars

Try the mall.

;)

If any of you 06 fella's live near my area and would be willing to give your truck up for a small time for some measurements and test fitting; I would be willing to prototype a CAI for them. They could even be powdercoated to fit with the color scheme of your individual trucks. Then offer them in runs after that for everyone else.

Not to Highjack Rocket, but if you have some Fab skilz, an open intake would be cake, ck out www.airflo.com

I'm still confused with "Try the Mail" ???

It was try the mall. I think he was joking. ;)

Hope he doesn't lose the day job -- Because comedy is not the strong suit

...keep the thread to it's question guys :nono:

CEO where the heck you at? You post and run? hehe

I'm here, lol. Everyone is just posting the same old thing; I am going to head down to the local exhaust shop to see how much a dual exhaust would be custom bent.

A custom exhaust if done with true mendrel bends and not that crush bent crap will run you roughly $650 or so. That is what mine ran me.

Refer to posts #6-7 for good gouge on an intake for your truck. As for now that is your only option.

I'm not so sure the demand is there just yet. I've got a 5.0 in my Explorer. One of the most popular engines of all time and perhaps most "moddable" engine that has been in the Explorer. K&N never bothered making a full kit for 5.0 equipped Explorers nor did Volant. The 5.0 ran from 1996-2001.

Given Ford's financial troubles, lower than expected sales on all their models, high fuel prices and the fact people are turning away from larger and less fuel efficient SUVs, I just can't see that there is a large enough '06 Explorer population yet to justify the product development given that a small % of people who actually buy SUVs actually modify them.

I'm using my accounting background for this one. Marketers always feel they can sell something. Beancounters temper that enthusiasm. ;)

MAC made one for you guys.

You would be surprised what mods can be adapted to an Explorer from a Mustang or other Ford vehicles. In the Explorer world we cannot wait for the aftermarket to catch up, we need to BE the aftermarket. That is why I have taken matter into my own hands and just started modding anyways. Fabbing custom parts like crazy, but modding no less. :D ;)

Celly -- " Great Response" -- Being a marketing guy I would develop ways to to move the product -- Always questioning why -- But -- Thanks to you guys " Bean Counters" -- It was always about " Is it affordable" -- And in the SUV market
go fast add ons are at the end of the line - The guys that drive them are in a hurry and the Soccer Moms don't care - Thanx Again -- It was fun

Yup. MAC is good that way. ASMI also makes a cheapo setup for the 5.0 and sells on them on eBay. I bet they make one for the '06 before anyone else and are probably working on one now. They tend to have intake setups for most vehicles. Then again, their kits are pretty much made up of parts you can find in a hardware store. At least MAC makes parts specific to their products.

I would hope that those parts are a tad better than just hardware store quality. hehe. Nevertheless, the truck doesn't know the difference if one is shiney or not. ;)
