Does muffler location matter?

Well, 2 months of drone at 2k-2500k RPM is enough... I finally got around to using my welder. Using the same muffler but having it exit the back definitely eliminated the drone inside the cabin. I don't know why I waited so long to do this project... oh yea, its because its 20-30 degrees outside. :

On to the pictures. SRT8 here I come.

The sound deadening spray used here did not last 2 months. Its still peeling off as I drive. With the set up above, don't need the deadening spray. One drawback, if you could call it that, of having the exhaust exit at the back is that it quiets down the 40 Flo quite a bit. Now I'm thinking I need something a bit louder.
