OK, I found a site that EXPLAINS can-bus, but just want to confirm if my 06 Eddie utilizes this technology. Does it?

Maybe I just didn't see it, but I could not find anything in the manual!

if you have trottle by wire yes

Uhh...what?

if you have trottle by wire yes

Mike, no offense, but can you elaborate or explain yourself a little better than this? By "trottle", do you mean THROTTLE?

What wire? Please follow up....

He means if the throttle is electronic and not controlled by a cable. I.E. your throttle uses an electronic servo for actuation.

What are you trying to accomplish? If its for an alarm/remote start install you dont need any CAN modules.

Trying to add AUX input to my stereo

I am trying to add AUX input for MP3 player (NOT IPOD!!!) use with my factory Ford radio. I believe I have the "Audiophile" system.

Most of the AUX adapters sold on the Internet (there are MANY sites) list a CAN-BUS radio as a requirement for use with these devices, as the device (AUX box) is wired into the factory radio via a model specific harness cable.

I could not find another thread that explicitly spoke of CAN-BUS, and the owner's manual is useless in this regard.

JD, I am a complete NOOB. How would I know if my "throttle uses an electronic servo for actuation"??

I'm ok on the actuation part, but what is a servo?

Electronic servo is just an electric motor that is controlled by a computer. The term "Fly by wire" means that you don't have a mechanical connection between your gas pedal and the throttle plate (I.E. no 'throttle cable' in the conventional sense). When you press on the gas pedal, it sends an electronic signal to the computer, which in turn sends a signal to a motor on the side of the throttle body which opens the butterfly plate.

I would think that an '06 would have this system. My '05 F-150 does.

Read all about it!

Yea, thanks, but I am having a problem with the PXDX2 box, which is identical to the device in your link.

I have read on a Ford Fusion forum other owners who have had problems with the exact unit I tried, the PXDX2 from Peripheral. They mentioned that there may be a slight variation in factory Ford radios that causes these AUX boxes to NOT WORK in a small percentage of these radios, which may include mine.

Thanks all for the info on CAN-BUS!!!
