My 02 EX sport Fan speeds 2 and 3 both blow at the same speed.

Hard to say.

My 04 just blew 1 and 4. I replaced the dail the knob goes into on the climate control and not the resistor. been working for a few years with no issues.

Most of the time it is resistor but occassionallya switch will go bad.

Ok thanks, All the fan speeds blow but the 2 and 3 blow at the same rate.

I had the 2nd & 3rd speed blowing the same. I replaced the dial knob speed switch and all is good. But it could be related to the blower resistor. :dunno:

Thanks then I'll try changing the dial knob speed switch first and I'll go from there, How hard is it to replace the speed switch. Do I get to it behind the glove box?

I have the same problem which may still exist but Is that Dial knob switch or resistor dealer only Part?

Not hard at all. Do you have auto climate control or manual? Check out this thread for removing the bezel around the radio: http://www.explorerforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=271666

With the manual system, after the radio bezel is off, remove the 4 screws holding the climate controls to the bezel then swap out the switch. It's pretty much self explanatory.

Welcome to the forum! :salute:

I got my oem switch from ebay. I haven't dealt with the resistor. If you do a search for blower resistor you should fine some threads on changing the resistor. There is a bunch of them.

Thanks! New here and just looking too pinpoint the problem. I had just called the dealer and he suspects that it may be the resistor but may end up aquiring both. Thanks for the link on the manual climate control....

Happened to me once. Same symptoms and for my part it turned out that my stock Blower Motor Resistor was at fault. Had to replace it with OEM since I couldn't find a nifty spare.
