Food for thought - Lowest Insurance Rate
My last SUV was a Jeep Cherokee. It cost me $1600 per year to insure. The new 2001 Explorer Sport I just bought to replace the Jeep costs only$1050 a year to insure. I was skeptical about the rate and questioned my insurer about the rate. Their response was that the theft rate is the lowest of all SUVs plus it is also one of the most safest and cheapest to repair. Aside from the Firestone problem I'm finding hard to believe any inference by the media about the vehicle being unsafe. You can be sure if they were so unsafe it would almost cost prohibitive to insure the Explorer. I firmly believe the media is very anti SUV and are indeed using their influence to get SUVs off the road.
Treat an SUV for what it is, a truck, and you will have a very save vehicle for many different weather and road conditions.
