Is this a must when installing a spartan locker on a 2000 xlt explorer? What's the worst case scenario if I don't? Explorer has 110k on it. It's no longer a daily driver. Thanks

I guess this is a very difficult and technical question. Will have to go ask an expert

Do you- no. Is it a good idea- yes.

When I regeared, I only replaced the 2 carriers bearings in the rear diff. Why? Because when we ("he" really, I sat and watched) pulled out each diff and inspected the bearings, only the rears needed to be changed. They were pitted.

So, if it's not a daily driver, that means you have a vehicle standing by that can take you to the parts store for bearings should the need arise during the install.

Spartan sells a whole rear bearing kit for 95 dollars with the purchase of one of there lockers. I guess this is a good price. Just
Hate to put all that extra work in if I don't have to
