simple. take out the batteries.

pff lol i dunno, you gotta be more specific tho. it wont turn off when all doors are completely closed? it wont turn off when you switch it off with the dimmer?

polarity is reversed?

its more like they will not shut off when the doors are closed and when the dimmer switch turns all lamps off.

when i pulled it out all that was in the roofing was one green and red wire with a metal plate above it. I connnected the positive to that wire and the negative to the metal plate.

I don't know how its connected in the 3rd gens, but I think the 2nd gens have 2 sources of power to the lights. 1 that is always hot for the lights with switches and one that is controlled by the dimmer for the middle/cargo lights. They use the metal plate for the 12V source in the 2nd gen; there are no wires connected to the light fixture when you unscrew it from the roof.

Take a voltmeter and check the voltages of those wires and metal plates that feed the dome light. Chances are you may have either shorted a connection from the source to the LED, bypassing the dimmer; or that you have a wire incorrectly placed.

Make sure you do this with the doors closed and you might also want to do it with the dimmer in the off position and on position to verify which wire comes from the dimmer.

Hope that helps you get it fixed:thumbsup:

i found out how to wire it corectly,

THANK YOU greyphox,

after reading what you typed i checked the back of the dome light and found out that it draws its poitive and negative current through the screws used to hold it up, all i did was wrap the positive around the screw which led into the plastic bar and the negative wire into the screw which led straight to the metal plate and it was fixed,

thanks for all your help ppl

glad I could help
