I am in the process of modifying my dome light system. I am looking for the wiring diagram that includes the fuse block and the dimmer switch on a 2000 Sport. I am trying to find the wire colors for the following.

+12 after the fuse for the Dome Light circuit.
+12 to the dome lights that comes after the door trigger and after the dimmer switch trigger.

The plan is to replace all my dome lights with LED's in white and red. I want two complete systems that I can switch between at the dash. I already have the white LED's in and they are great, much brighter than stock. The thinking behind this is that when I am camping, hunting, night driving I can switch the system to red and save my night vision.

I am also installing the dome light supervision that came with my alarm, its just a two wire hook up but the shop wanted an extra $150 to do it.

Thanks in advance,
Justin

The only thing I can tell you is that if you can get to the plug at the back of the headlight/dimmer switch, you will see two black wires that got soldered and shrinkwrapped together so that they can go onto one pin in the plug. The joint is about an inch or two from the plug. Those two wires are what I tapped into to trigger a few LED's that I added to light up the front floor in my Mounty. They are live when the interior light comes on.

Thanks for the info. On my rig it looks like they just crimped those wires together at the pin. I guess I'm just gonna have to test it all out. My only concern is if the wiring goes through circuitry or modules that I can't see without tracing the lines all the way to the source. Anyone have any ideas?

You can easily confirm it with a test light.
If you can wait another day, I will go get my wiring diagrams for the 2000 model year tomorrow, (I have the factory manuals for it) but I am close to 100% sure there is nothing on those 2 lines except the interior lighting.

Yea, I'm gonna take my multimeter to the harness today. But if I can get the wiring diagrams that would be greatly helpful.

Well, unfortunately I can not get to where my manuals are today. It might be a few days due to schedules I must keep and getting time to run the 20 miles to the garage where I keep them. They are a hard copy (about 17 inches of manuals, not on CD) and I do not have a scanner, but I can explain circuits and what is on them if you wish.
I do have a circuit diagram of the 96 year in PDF format that I could send you thru e-mail if you are interested, but I do not know what was changed between the years 96-99.

Hi i have a question concerning this forum. YesterdayI put 24 smd leds in the puddle lights third cargo light and glove box and now today none of the lights come on except the glove box lights. When I turn my 2003 explorer on the dome lights will flash and thats the end of it. They wont flash again until I turn it all the way off and do it again. Hope this is enough info and thanks for the help.
