door ajar light always on

my explorer was involved in an accident before i bought it, and the "door ajar" light is always on and i think its because of the rear hatch. i read a different thread about putting wd-40 on all latches and everything and i did that but it didnt work. im wondering if there is a way i can put a wire or something to make it think that the rear hatch is closed so i can put my interior lights back in?thanks

i already tried that wd-40 thing i guess my next step is taking the panel off i probably try the drivers door seeing how thats what worked for everyone else but im not sure

Try cleaning the switch for the back glass. I cleaned all of mine and the light still stayed on, then I found the one for the back glass and my problem was fixed.

Did you have the straw on the wd-40 can? You need to lube the internal of the lock not the external where it grabes on to the latch. The sensor for the drivers door is far in there.
