(On my 02' E.B.)Sunday I stopped at the store and got out hit the lock on my remote and the horn sounded twice indicating a door was ajar,I went all around the truck shutting each door one by one and tried locking it and got the same 2 chirps of the horn even after I knew all doors were shut good.I went on in the store and came out and got in and started the truck, still had the door ajar message. After closing the drivers door several times it went out, made several more stops and same thing each time. The bolts to the latch are tight and I sprayed it with wd-40 but every stop I made that day it gave me problems.Got up monday and it worked fine and has since but I'm sure I will probably see this problem again.
I don't want to disconnect the wire.Where does the door ajar light get it's signal? From the latch?Any ideas?

The door ajar switch triggers the delayed courtesy lamps, so you don't want to disconnect the wires. Did you notice whether the courtesy lamps were working when you had the problem? You might want to take it somewhere and see if there are any stored trouble codes. If it happens again definately get it scanned for trouble codes.

The door ajar switches are attached to the door latchs inside the doors. You have to take a lot of stuff apart to get to them. I have a pdf file that has a pretty good illustration with part numbers and stuff. It's for the '03 model year but I think they are probably alike. Send me a PM with your email address if you want a copy.

Yea,the courtesy lamps were on.I called the Ford dealership and they are going to take a look at it.My wife hit a deer with it about 6 or 8 weeks ago and they replaced that door and fender (at the dealership body shop). It's about 70 miles away and I hate to make the trip while it seems to be working,it might be hard for them to find the problem unless it's happening at the time. That may be my best option though.

I'll send you a pm with my addy though.I'd like to see how it works.
