Have a 2001 Mountaineer and have some issues with the doors. The front passenger side door lock will never fully unlock on the first try. I usually have to hit unlock a couple of times before it will open.

And then a few months ago the door handle on the inside broke, so now I either have to let my wife out or roll down the window so she can open the outside handle from inside the car. It's been a cold winter so haven't bothered with taking the door panel off, but is this a common issue? Tried searching and came up empty. Not quite sure I'd know what I was looking for once I took the panel off anyway, but once things warm up a bit I'd like to try and get these issues fixed, any tips or suggestions would be appreciated.

The interior door handles break really fast and easy since they're all plastic..
A new one is about $15. Easy swap.. just gotta unscrew it and it's held in by tabs and slid into place.

As for the unlock. Sounds like the door lock actuator is giving up on you.

Good deal, sounds like an easy fix for the door handle, I'll have to look into getting one ordered here soon.

Just pick it up at a local parts store.. Mine always has them in stock since they break so much. Ahaha.
