Door Latch Problems 93X

I did a search and I didnt find anything on my problem. Anyways I have had a problem where the latch that the door hooks onto, it has a little black plastic piece. That piece on my car keeps breaking off. And once the black thing is off my door, the doesnt shut completly. So can I just buy those black plastic things or what??

Sorry for being no very discriptive but I can think of what the thing is called

Ford sells replacements for these...

it's actually a bolt. The plastic pieces are not availible by themselves. They cost about $5 a piece and require an Allen wrench to remove and replace.

!!!WARNING!!

When removing the striker bolt, be extremely carelful not to dislodge the nut it is attached to inside the door pillar (you can't see it and it is not welded in place). It sits in place in a slot that is open at the top and might move while you are working on it. If it slides up too far (inch or so)and falls down into the pillar, you will have a BIG Problem. It may not be retreivable. Work slowly!

Ah thanks for your info....But where do I buy the screw? Autozone, Pepboys, and what is it called?

Autozone carries the HELP parts

as do many other auto stores. The plastic bushings and the complete assembly is available.

I bought mine from a Ford Parts department

but as mentioned above they do have them at O'Reilley. Sorry I forgot the exact name of the part. Replacing the plastic bushing if it's available, would still require removing the stiker/bolt and you must be careful when doing so.
