Door lock issue.

I have been doing research and am finding different solutions. I have 1996 explorer 4 door and the driver side electric lock doesn't work. It makes a buzzing noise but won't lock/unlock. all other doors work fine. Is it the actuator or could it be the wiring.

Welcome to this forum! I've moved your thread into the stock 95-01 section. The plastic gears get stripped, so this is probably what you're hearing while it's trying to work.

Thanks Brooklynbay. Does that mean i just need to replace the gears? If so, is it very difficult?

The gears are integrated into the electric actuator. You could test the actuator after you remove it by applying 12 volts to see if it moves.
