So, with the fob, I can unlock the doors but they will not lock. I removed the running boards a few days ago and noticed a green wire under the drivers door that is frayed and gone! It attaches to the frame in two places and appears to be a ground. I can’t find any other wires down there. It also blows out the fuse in slot 20 under the dash so I’m assuming that green wire is the reason. I can’t tap into it as there’s nothing there any longer. I have to unlock by hand now.

Anyone know if there is a power wire under there somewhere, maybe on top of frame? I can’t find anything but green.

Man did these running boards cause a rust mess under the doors and rockers! Shame on Ford!

I replaced that ground and the locks now work! The windows, dash, radio, interior lights, headlights now don’t!

Anyone have a clue? I checked every fuse and they’re good except #20 (5a) that keeps blowing. I found a few wires in the door jamb that were worn a bit that I fixed but nothing major. Battery reads 12.3v.

Truck starts and drives great just no lights or windows! I had to drill out the frigging rivets in the window actuators in order to raise the windows (they were down).

Anyone???????

Ok, figured out the dash, radio, and interior light issues. That’s done!

Now, with the headlights, it’s blowing fuse 22 (20a) under the hood as soon as you push it in! Same thing that fuse 20 (5a) inside is doing.

Still no power to the windows either. I checked the door jamb wiring for the fourth time today and all there is is two wires with the sheathing worn off but nothing broken! I just taped up those two wires. One was the heavy black wire and the other a tan/ light blue wire.

Bought a new battery today hoping that would solve things but no luck! Old battery was six years old anyway! Checked alternator also and it’s showing as good.

Being I took off the running boards before this started, I’m looking things over underneath for any broken wires. So far I see nothing!

Does anyone have any ideas on both the windows and headlights? Money is very tight so I’m trying to figure this out myself.

Found another ground strap on passenger side that was bad. Fixed that and windows now work. Still have no headlights!

Man, I really love all the help here!
