Door Panel Question

So has anyone ever tried to switch a 2006 interior door handle with a 2010?

I'm talking about the handle you grab to close the door with. It looks like the 2010 has an improved design where they put a handle in the arm rest part.

I want that in my 2006 to mitigate that stupid design, anyone ever do that? Is it a simple swap or are the holes different.

I'm thinking you could just replace the arm rest part and wouldn't need to replace the entire door panel.

Only the 2006 models have that stupid design. They changed it with the 2007 models.
Somewhere here you can find a thread, where someone modified a 2006 door panel.
Maybe this is also a solution for you.
As far as I know you can not just replace the arm rest. It's connected with the door panel.

You need the whole panel. What I want to do is buy on eBay tan door handle pockets, cut out the arm rst and glue in the pockets. Unless I can find a wrecked beige interior explorer.
