door pillars

The top of my exterior door pillars are faded. i buff and wax them and they look ok for a few days then it fades again. anybody know how sturdy they are? i'm gonna compound them i just don't know how deep i can get into it.

I assume yours are painted.

I hit mine with a DAP polisher using cutting and then finishing polish to bring back the clear over the black.

If yours are solid plastic, I suggest looking a few threads down for Paraphoe's painting thread. He prepped them and then hit them with some black paint, and they look as good as new.
