I am having a problem with my driver's side front door. I have the keyless entry system. The solenoid/actuator won't lock or unlock the door. The remote and keyless pad opens all the other doors. I have to use the key on that door and if have set the doors to lock which in turn arms the factory alarm, then if I happen to just open the driver door if it is not locked, the alarm goes off.

Happens often to me at the most embarrassing places..

I assume the solenoid/act is bad? Are there any cheaper than dealer sources for those? I looked at the Ford parts store on this site, but could not find it.

Any help would be appreciated.

My driver side door lock failed on my 97

The rivet broke that held the the actuator. If I remember, this is visable on the outside edge of the door held in a plastic bushing. If you find an open hole, that is the problem. Probably that actuator gets more stress because it is used more often. Quite a pain to get an bolt in there.
