Its almost like i have a permenant child lock. When anyone is in the back seat, i gotta walk all the way around and let them out, not complaining just gets on my nerves. We've tried to mess with the child lock, but still no luck.

Any advice would be nice thanks

My rear door is this way, one day the door was working fine, than a friend went to open and it wouldnt, i took the panel off to investigate to fidn the gear on the handle was stripped, i looked on ebay and you can get a new inside handle assembly for like 15$ thats what im gunan do to fix my prob. soudns like yours might be the same thing.

Do you have instructions on removing the door panel? I need some help with that before I screw something up

You should invest in an Explorer mechanics book, ie Hayes, etc. It has helped me out a lot with repairs and general information.........of course not as good as what this site offers for info! I've taken apart my drivers side door trim. If my memory serves me right, you need to unscrew the screws around your door handle and CAREFULLY pull the trim off. Be sure to pull where there are pegs. You have to pry with your fingers to look for them. That should get you started hopefully!

This is a common problem and there is a lot of info about it on this site. I believe the usual fix is an inside handle replacement which is not expensive if you you do it yourself. Try a seach and I'm sure you'll find what you're looking for. The door panels are easy to remove and I believe there are instructions in the useful threads forum. Good luck.

Welcome to the site! As someone else said, use the search function. This problem has been discussed and is listed in the "useful threads" section, check it out here:

Don't buy the part off Ebay. Its cheaper from Ford dealers, believe it or not, and its not an aftermarket replacement there, its at least an OEM part. Real simple repair, no big deal at all.
