The Pro Comp kit comes complete with dual aal's. It has 2 long leaves and 2 short leaves, one of each for each side. Just fyi, these leaves ride pretty stiff, so you can can get used to it, or do a matching 2.5 " tt in the front and do a soa in the rear and use your stock leave pack like i did. This is what i run with 33's and it is awesome, both on and offroad.
Forum member Joey p. is selling a new double AAL kit for $110, (MSRP is $130). See the Classifieds, if you're interested.
I called Explorer Pro Comp's tech department and here's the dimensional scoop:
Leaf 1 - flat len. = 48.55", free arch = 6.75"
Leaf 2 - flat len. = 40", free arch = 4.75"
Both leaves are .320 (5/16) thick which is the same as your stock leaves. Pro Comp states that you'll get 1.5" to 2.5" of lift based on the condition of the springs on your truck.
After installation, you'll have six leaves in the spring pack which may make for some seriously stiff rear springs. I think I've figured out how to use old F150 springs to provide 2" of lift without being so stiff. I just need to buy some ARB/OME shocks before I can rip everything apart.
here is what i am thinking of doing, the procomp spindle lift which is 3 inches in the front but i think it only gives u one aal for the back and their 3000 series shocks, so should i buy just another single set if that is possible?
Ok....I'm not really understanding how 95fielddigger did a 2.5 inch SPOA. It just doesn't make sence to me. Everything that I have read has said that going spring over will give you 4-5 inches. I'm running a single AAL and the Warrior shackles and the 4dr packs on my sport. When I put them on it appeared to give me somewhere around 3 inches. I agree that the double AAL will be one rough ride.
I have the rancho AAL, comes with 2 leaves per side. I used both springs when I was spring under but after I went spring over I took out the stiff shorter spring. The 2 springs together gave me around 2.5". I gained 4" when I went spring over, but still needed about 1/2 to 3/4 lift to mach the front which is what my long aal gave me. If you want to buy the Pro Comp kit you are talking about then I will sell you my short spring to compensate for the lift if it's not tall enough in the rear. I don't want much for it but would like to get shipping + 20.00 if you want to use it. I would try the lift first and see if it lifts your X up to the same as the front. All aal's are not the same so it might only take one aal to acheive 2.5 to 3" of lift.
well i went out and took some measurements and it seems that my back sags about 1&1/4 inch lower than the front, what would you guys recommend on doing to even it out, i still wanna do 3 inch spindles in front but i dont want my back to look like its sagging?? any suggestions
diden't read the whole thread but the double add a leaf kit worked good i think i got the procomp one don't remember though. definately worked good on my truck
An SOA will give you upwards of 5 inches of lift in the rear. The double AAL is much less of a gain, and a better match to spindles or tt in the front. The combination of tt and spindles may compensate for the SOA, but I would like to see it to belive it.
with the double add a leaf and tt the back settled down to just about even with the front it still leans foward a little i'd day do a double add a leaf spindle if you can and maybe shackles in the rear to even everything out. if it's needed. i say don't do the tt if you can do spindles. and spring over won't even anything out and give you axle wrap.
