Dowel pin in bell housing

Doing semi rebuild first time ever on 05 explorer(4.0 V6). I'm ready to put engine back in and realized I've never seen these dowel pins I hear you need to use when you connect engine to bell housing. I'm 95% sure they were never there so im wondering if they are actually needed since it seems the bolts will line it up properly? I'm ready to go this weekend and would hate to have to wait for 2 dwells from parts place but I will if neccessary. Thanks

The dowels if originally equipped are a critical component same as for a cylinder head. Look at the bell housing side maybe they are there.

I did its not there, I'll check under car etc... Ok thank you for stopping me from doing something stupid..lol. I'll have to order them
