well I finally got to some things replaced my dpfe and i took a couple of pics of the one i removed that has over 160000 on it....
After moving up to Mass and having to get cars inspected My 1995 barely passed and it was emission related so I was told.
Well since it is a 1995 and not OBD2 It isn;t easy to get the codes out of it with a test light...
So having not done anything much to the engine for over 2 years It is time now..
i changed the plugs which were toasted..I replaced the wires which the end going into the coil were totally crusted over wit0h corrosion..
I changed the Dpfe also the hoses going from that to the metal pipe. 1 was totally clogged from I guess carbon and the other was half way there...
wanted to replace the IAC but had the hardest trouble finding the replacement local after 4 differnt ones given to me they were all incorrect...
So I cleaned it today with electrical contact cleaner and also cleaned my MAF sensor which i could see crudded up..

Then came the moment to finally Seafoam after reading for hours posts on it.
I bought the can and poured it via funnell into the brake booster vacuum hose. after i removed the hose i thought the truck was going to stall but as soon as i started pouring it in it picked the idle back up.
I did get alot of smoke but not as much as i seen from a picture of i think it was ALDIVES truck..
mine was sall compared to that smoke screen.
it does run so much better..idles so smoothe.
I did get the part numbers from IAC and EGR so I can order them probably from Rockauto since they sell insids door handles and need one..

Next thing I will be doing is spindle lift and rear add a leafs and going to get I believe 35's when that is done.
I believe they will fit since I can not put 33's on with small rubbing at full turn..
and adding 3 inches of lift 35's no problem..
anyway love this site makes things so much easier to do.

as you can see I drilled out the rivets to open it up never seen a picture of the inside before.
and the picture does not how much at all as i would say i could have filled up a cap from a bottle of pepsi witht he amount of junk and carbon from the inside of it that fell out when i forced it open... No wonder these die after a while..
I would recommend anyone who never replaced it and had lots of miles spend the $35.00 and replace it took 20 minutes with that and the hoses..

great news and thanks for the pics. PICS make things soo much easier to comprehend, doncha thank? Congrats!

From what I have been told that is the EGR position sensor. The DPFE sensor is a little back sensor to the rear of the motor on the same side of the intake manifold as the EGR position sensor. A few tubes are connected to it and the tube coming off the top of the EGR valve leads to it as well I believe.

they are both the same thing, the black one is a different version I believe, I have a 96 that has the round black one and a 97 that has the grey one like pictured. Correct meif I am wrong I am semi new to this EGR stuff (dont like emissions)

I have BOTH sensors on my 1996 XLT 4.0 OHV.

I have the grey one exactly as pictured above located just underneath the IAC valve. If you look further to the right as your looking at the intake manifold from the drivers side you will find another sensor with thin plastic colored tubes connected to it. plz note that the tubes I'm referring to are not the larger black rubber tubes running from the EGR exhaust pipe (which connects to the EGR valve) to the grey sensor. Its screwed to the same side of the intake manifold just like the DPFE sensor just closer to the firewall.

If this grey sensor is in fact the DPFE sensor then what the hell is the back sensor called that I'm talkin about?

The pics are worth a thousand words...They have inspired me to take all of the components off my engine and clean them up!!!
