My front brakes have been dragging for two years. I have gone through 2 sets of pads and replaced both rotors. Additionally my gas mileage has dropped probably 2 mpg. To combat this I have changed the master cylinder, cleaned and lubed the caliper pins, rebuilt both calipers, changed both flexible brake lines, adjusted the brake booster push rod several times, and bled the brakes countless times. The pads are still dragging, the hubs are burning after driving around over a few miles, and I have a burned brake smell after driving around for a few miles. My next try to to buy some rebuilt calipers. I am getting frustrated on this one. Any suggestions?

Just did the master on my 96,there is an adjustment on the push rod to fine tune when the rubber seal closes the pressure port. If the seal doesn't return enough to open the port, the brakes will remain applied and wear quickly. Check the release this way, raise one of the front wheels, push hard on the brake pedal (running or not). Try to turn the raised wheel, except for mechanical resistance it should turn easily with out binding from the brakes. Check your instructions on the adjustment procedure, not too difficult.

i set of pads a year isnt bad...

Rebuilt calipers are cheap, $13. I would disconnect the vacuum line to the booster to be absolutely sure I wasn't getting a slight drag from that as a test.
