Any advice on changing the belt on the V8? Special tools required or helpful? Any directions available on-line (Haynes Manual only had two steps - remove it and install it)? It appears it may be easier to reach tension pulley from the bottom since fan shroud, hoses, etc are pretty thick from the top but I don't know how much room I need to release the tension. I planned on using a socket on a torque wrench or "long" ratchet wrench. Will this work?
I want to make this as easy as possible so any expeiences out there would be helpful.

I would only use a torque wrench for tightening stuff to help preserve its accuracy... On my '93 I use a 1.5 ft cheater pipe over a wrench or socket handle. Make note of how the belt goes on in case the diagram is missing.

Check the bearings on the belt pulleys for noise. These can be regreased by prying off the dust cover from the center. Mine rattled about 6 months ago and I poled a little grease in them. Just had to do them again when they started squeeking. This time I used a heat gun to warm up the bearing and then worked in grease with a drill spinning the bearing. Hope this lasts longer.

How did you get a drill to fit in there to spin the bearing?
Some sort of 90 degree L-adapter?
In my truck I would have to remove the radiator, a/c condenser, and grill to do that.

Agree on the torque wrench (brain burp). With a cheater pipe do I go from bottom or top (how much clearance do I need)? Is it a rachet action or more of a leverage action (or is it designed so these are sort of the same)? I don't want to get the old one off and discover I can't get the new one on (I'm AR that way).
Thanks again.
