I got this B4000 extended cab and it has always had a vibration. I changed the carrier bearing , which was shot. It helped, but not much. I took out the drive shaft and all three of the universal knuckles were out of phase, and the 2 rear universals were bad. I replaced aligned everything and replaced the center and rear universal. I was a drastic improvement but, Like an idiot I should have changed the front universal. It looked good, but looks are deceiving. I still had a vibration, so I changed it and noticed that the front yoke on the transfer case had some modifications done with a hammer. It is bent up and only half of the snap ring fits in the groove. I put the shaft back in( i needed the truck) and it was fine for about 20 miles then the vibration came back. I guess the damage is trashing the front universal. Is the front yoke the same on any other models, I would think the transfer case is the same on explorers and regular cab rangers. Am I correct and does anyone know were to get one??

I would think the front yoke is the same on any Ranger/Explorer/Mazda that has the same T-case. If you could post a pic of yours, we could tell better.

Another thing to check: if you've had an out of balance driveshaft, it could have damaged (depending on how out of balance it was) either the T-case bearing at the yoke, or the pinion bearing on the rear diff. I've had that happen to me, after driving 800 miles at freeway speeds after putting a nice dent in the driveshaft. Get under you truck, grab the driveshaft at one end, and try to wiggle it around while watching for any play at the bearings.
