Im almost afraid to ask this because i think i know the answer and its not what i want to hear.. anyways. I have MASSIVE play in my drive line @ my axles and @ the t-case. i can turn the driveshaft probably 1\8 of a turn and its not the universals.. its the t-case and the pinion that are turning.. Im wondering why in the world there is so much play in my front and rear axles my front axle is out of a 98 and my rear axle is out of a 99 so theyre relatively new..

Me too :(

Do you have a powertrax rear locker by chance?

I do have a powertrax rear locker which made the problem even worse. :( im afraid the gears are worn but when i had the diff cover off to put the powertrax in i didnt notice any signifigant wear..

Yeah I was just starting to feel the backlash in the driveline (probably due to a worn limited slip) before I put the powertrax in and when I did, and test drove it the first time the backlash was horrible. It has gotten better since then but it's enough to make me keep on the look out for a replacement locker such as an Eaton E-locker sometime in the near future.

The added backlash also seems to interfere with the 4x4 computer, the ABS, the cruise control, and even the speedometer :(

get a manual t-case... solves all those computer related problems :)

except the idiot light, or the idiot cutting the hole in the floor:D

I have that too :(

I posted to ask about it but I probably wasn`t clear enough.

It`ll clatter if I let the gas off and push the clutch in too late while going at slow speeds. Also takes alot of finnesse to keep it from happening when turning around on a tight trail, usually when there are people watching. Definitely worse with the locker.

I hear the Atlas II transfer case helps minimise it! :D

i get chatter in the driveline with the locker sometimes when im slowing down with the clutch out. i think it has to do with all the play in the axles..
