- 99 Ranger XLT Off Road
I have a 99 Ranger 4.0 5-spd manual 4x4 Off Road.
I need help with an issue that I am experiencing, when Im driving down the road and I hit a bump or crack in the road I, a loud thudding noise starts that feels like it is coming from right under my feet. I have ruled out wheel bearings because they are new. I have ruled out front end differential because I removed my lockers and the front shaft should not be spinnig. I found that If I switch into 4x4 when the thudding starts, it will stop then start again after I hit another bump. If I then switch into 2x4 it will stop then the whole process repeats again. So I am thinking that the issue has to be associated to the Transfer case?? Any thoughts? chain? gears? I believe it is a Borg Warner 1354 Electronic Shift
