driveline vibe after adding leaf

after the soa swap I had zero vibrations from the rear end. this past weekend I added a cut main leaf to my leaf pack to get the rear level with the rear again. when doing so I forgot to unbolt the dshaft from the rear flange so when I dropped the axle the slip yoke came apart. no big deal, put it back together.. twice.. and have a gnarly driveline vibration. I took it apart a few times and clocked the rear part of the shaft so that the ujoint caps are lined up, question is do the yokes have be pointed the same way also?

I'm at a loss.. any ideas?

Did the drive shaft drop on the pavement? It could be slightly bent. At what speed are you getting a vibration?

the slip came apart while still.bolted to the truck never hit the ground. vibration is horrible at take off slightly clears up around 30 but never completely goes away

The U-joint yokes of the driveshaft itself have to be in phase.

I have a slight vibration at about 50-55 (on the speedo)? Its really the only time I feel this. Could this mean my yolks are off a bit? I took original driveshaft off and replaced it, never paid attention to yolk placement before or after.

I was trying to this k of a way to describe this exactly. my yolks are not in phase. will try that tonight.

If phasing the u joint doesn't clear up the vibration completely you may have the one end of the driveshaft 180 degrees out from the other (in phase but not matched as it originally was) and this can also cause a vibration, likely not as severe as being out of phase however. It's a good practice when taking apart a driveshaft or changing u joints to mark the components so they are reassembled as they originally were, retaining as close to factory balancing as possible ^^
