it could be that one of the 2 "U" shaped clips that hold the glass to the regulator has pulled loose. they're not very big and are just glued to the glass. they work fine going up, but pull out when going down. i just went through this.
...had the same problem. Someone suggested that a little silicone lube on the pillar rail might work. Darned if it didn't work like a charm!!
You might give it a try.

yes, i also sprayed a bunch of silicon into the window channels when i was done re-gluing the glass to the regulator. couldn't hurt to try and easier than removing the interior door panel (not that it's very hard to do).
i used what i had in my tool box. Permatex yellow weather stripping adhesive (i actually prefer 3M). it's the strongest stuff i know of and it doesn't get hard and brittle - ever. it's a contact cement. just clean off the old stuff as best you can first. i have to do the same repair on my other daughter's Mountaineer soon as her driver's window is coming loose.
oh, and don't forget the silicon spray in the channels when you're done. very important.
OK thanks. So I need to make sure to buy the 3M version of the yellow weatherstripping adhesive and silicone spray. I thought I read somewhere that using silicone spray would shorten the life of rubber.

either the Permatex or the 3M will work. i just think the 3M is easier to use. the Permatex is a bit runny. Silicon is great for rubber. i don't know where you heard it wasn't.
the silicon is really important to lube the channels. lack of lubrication is why the glass pulls out of the regulator (that and the fact that Ford uses two 1.5" glue clamps to hold it in).
Hey I got the same issue! I will lube it up today, just so happen to have a can of Fabulous Blaster Silicone Spray Lubricant sitting on a shelf here at work.
When someone opens up the door to redo the clips, can you do a how to?
