My drivers window stopped going up today.

We're expecting snow, so I pulled the interior door panel off to try to get it back up, and I did. However, the rear track in the door is hanging on by the pushpin around some wires..

Other thing: when I pulled the door panel off, what seems like a small metal pin fell out, with a hole through it I would assume once had a cotter pin in it. It seems like it sheared off, but I couldn't find where from, I had to do this on my lunch break at work.

So anyway, I've seen threads about track problems before, but I've never worked on one before, are there any how-to's? Or threads with pictures? I'm pretty clueless here, but I really wanna fix this asap, I'm gonna need it fixed before my inspection expires in a couple weeks.

Thanks in advance

Do a search mine got stuck down did a search on the forms and went to replace the motor took the old one out plugged it in and it worked fine so I re-installed it and its been working ever since guess it just binned that 1 time.

Well, I know for sure I need to fix the track, its completely loose. the motor makes noise like its trying to push, but I think the window glass is jammed. I don't think the motor is a problem at all.

I do need to know how the track goes together, so I can fix that asap

I didn't mean to sound like a dbag, I feel like that's how I was coming off. I was just feeling sour about it breaking. (Even though its been a long time coming) I really wanna get this fixed as soon as I possibly can, even if it isn't the track, the track needs to be fixed too. I don't think its the motor though, I think that the glass is just stuck, and I know the track is a problem. I just don't see how it stays in there.

Okay, so that pic is the pin thing that fell out yesterday, I don't know where it came from, but I have a theory

This is the track I was talking about, it seems like it was supposed to be slid up near the back of the window, so I tried it, and it did seem to fit, and it went in a good amount so I left it. However, there seemed to be a bracket near the bottom of the door with two holes in it. The "holes" are filled though, almost like there was a stud that broke off, only problem is that the track doesn't have holes, it also seems to have once had studs. I don't see how they went together exactly, but that's what I need to know.

Only new problem is the window doesn't go down any more, the motor clicks with the switch, and then clicks one more time. Pressing up, you can hear a click and tell the motor is trying to push up.
I hope I didn't jinx it when I said the motor isn't a problem...

okay i got the "track" out but i cant figure out what its called, so i can look for a new one. pictures included. window is securely attached to the regulator, regulator is intact, and the motor does function, although the window is jammed in place right now. any tips for unjamming the window or insight into what this part is called?

looks like the bracket rusted and broke off

that did help, thank you very much! haha that was what i was looking for, ive been calling it the channel, the track, turns out its the "window glass retainer" im gonna try to jb weld it together again, and then find out how to unjam the window, see if that works. i have a feeling its gonna be really hard to unjam though. and if jb welding doesnt help, ill go up to pick a part and find one. i would think it would be the same for 95-01 explorers too, right?

So I tried to jb weld the bracket on... reinstalled it, then as I was trying to unjam the window, I had the motor and regulator pull down on the window, and the bracket broke off again. My dad thought it was the regulator, so I separated the window from the regulator, window and regulator work just like they're supposed to, but I cannot free the window. Any tips? I need to get another window glass retainer too, the one in an 01 st should be the same as in 95-01 explorers right?

Got it fixed, replaced the glass retainer with one from a jy, the window was partially off track in the front, freed itself when i removed the mirror and trim strip. everything works fine now, thankfully. thanks for the help
