I have a 1997 Mountaineer and lately I have been having problems with my driver's side door look. When I put my truck in drive all the doors but the drivers door lock. I can push it down and it locks but thats the only way. It will unlock with the key fob and the switch on the door. What can I do to fix this?

Thanks
Kevin

I had a similar problem and it turned out to be a lost screw on the actuator. Open your door and look on the sheet metal under the lock latch. There should be a screw there holding the actuator on the inside of the door. If it is missing, the actuator is swinging free hence no power lock. I replaced the screw with a rivet.

if it not making any "noise" in the attempt to lock, then it is likely electrical (ie. broken wire typically. If its making "noise" when its trying to lock, then its likely mechanical and break out the WD and / or take off the panel and check the linkages.

Well sure enough that is my problem. But my screw is still in there. But on mine I think that a nut was there so I might beable it put a nut back on there.

Ive had problems like this on several cars and normaly either the actuator is bad or thir is just a clip that has broken off the linkage
