Drivers Door will not Lock

All of a sudden the drivers door will not lock. I've tried using the remote as well as the key. All of the other doors react to the remote when the command is executed. I do hear clicking from the mechanism but no visible movement.
Does anyone have advise. 1999 Ford Explorer Eddie Bauer.

If the lock mechanism is anything like the first gens, it is probably the mechanism that comes off teh back of the lockl cylinder. that's what happened to mine, it came off and jammed in the rods that connect the handle/lock/lock knob

It sounds like the power door lock actuator has bought the farm.

I have replaced the pass side and the rear hatch - the drivers side is still original.
