Driver's side inner tie rod replacement.

How do I replace inner tie rod on the driver's side? I think its quite different from the Explorer. Does one have to replace both sides? It is only loose and dangerous on the driver side. Is it possible to come apart while driving?

You could replace the entire rack & pinion. This will save time, and avoid future failures since everything is being replaced at the same time. Either way, you still need to get an alignment.

I did replace mine 2 yrs ago and had same problem 93' star rwd
driver side inner was waaaaayyyy loose upon inspection. Got a quote
from tire center then decided to do myself, wasnt a big deal either.
Just make marks where linkages are before you start as reference
points, I use (white out) Best thing is you get several things renewed
at once in the process by replacing the whole unit. It was one
of the FUN repairs I did. Come to think of it, it was the only
repair, outside of normal maint. Have fun and take your time.
