If you are experiencing a drivers window that will go down, but won't come up, its quite possible you have a defective OTD switch (one touch down). The large parts house I warrantied my Dorman switch from let me know this is a common problem with 4 door Ford trucks/SUVs. (both factory and Dorman replacement switches).

My symptoms were a driver's window that went down, but wouldn't come up AND it was continuing to send a power-on signal to the DOWN circuit.....a possible fire hazard inside the door...the motor was HOT!

To make a long story short, I tested for broken wires inside the jamb etc. Upon winging it and ordering a replacement switch (to replace the switch I replaced 6 months ago!!!) I measured the OHMs of both switches.

Pull your switch and hold the switch "prongs up"; the primary plug has 6 male prongs that control the front windows. (the back plug has 5 prongs showing). With an ohm meter, measure the resistance between the upper right hand prong and the middle left hand prong of the 6 prong connector. My new switch measured 8 ohms. The broken switch measured .5 ohms.

You can find a new replacement Dorman switch on eBay for approx $50.00

Case closed.
