Hi,

I wondered if it was OK to drive in 4WD on dry pavement with no driveshaft in place. Thus, the front wheels are only being driven, as the rear wheels are not connected to the drivetrain. Would this cause any damage to the vehicle?

(The reason, I'm asking is because I'm half way through replacing the U-Joints...).

I'd guess that some of you guys might have had to consider this, if you had broken your driveshaft in off road endeavours.

Thanks,

Won't hurt anything. Matter of fact many people do it when their breaking in a new set of gears, pull the rear shaft and run on the front through the specified number of heat/cool cycles.
