I was trying to unplug and clean my Daytime Running Lights module plug today, but it seems to be stuck there... there is a retaining tab on the gray plug that's connected to the small black colored module (located behind the bumper on the frame, under the left headlight), but I can't get the plug off. I tried moving the tab towards and away from the plug while pulling the plug itself, then tried to pry the plug off, but nothing (the damn thing seems welded to the module or something). Any ideas would be very appreciated, as I need to clean the connections in order for my DRLs to start working normally (once they work, once they don't). Thanks in advance !

I added a DRL module to my truck a couple months ago, and ran into the same problem. The connector was stuck to the jumper plug, and wouldn't come apart. I finally got them apart by using small screwdrivers to hold the tabs back, then rocking the plug slightly until I was able to separate them. If that doesn't work, you might try spraying some sort of lubricant on it, electrical parts cleaner perhaps? I don't know how good grease or WD-40 would be for the wiring.

Good luck.

Thanks for the reply. I will try that again tommorow, but what I'm starting to really wonder about is whether or not I'm playing with the right module/plug (my as always useless Haynes repair manual, that covers 10+ model years by the way, doesn't cover the DRLs in any way whatsoever).

Basically what I figured was the DRL module (from the posts in here) is a black box, about 3' by 3 or 4' and has a long square and gray colored plug stuck in it (with one retaining tab), and from the plug there's like 5 or 6 wires sticking out (I had to be careful with these, and almost cut some of them when my screwdriver slipped off the plug). The box itself is located on the front frame, underneath the driver's headlight housing.

I'm gonna try to go at it again since I hate leaving an unfixed problem, but the plug so far has been a PITA. :fire: :fire: :fire:

Just keep pulling and rocking the connector back and forth as it will come apart eventually. Mine was difficult to remove when I had to replace a burnt out module. And yes, you have the right part.
