Bonded not riveted.

Does anyone know of a place that sells Bonded Brake Shoes NOT riveted?
I yanked the drums off one of my cars this weekend to inspect the Brakes. Decided to go and get new Rear Shoes because the rears were ‘getting there’. The shoes that were on the rear were bonded and had about 1/16th of an inch left on the thinnest part before hitting metal.

I buy new Shoes, they are riveted. I’ve seen this before, no biggy. But then after I installed them I looked at the distance from the top of the rivet to the surface of the Shoe, Hell, it wasn’t much more then that 1/16th of an inch I had left on the old shoes. With riveted shoes it seems like you give up much of the life of the Shoe.
Any thoughts about this?

They have bonded pads that are much longer lasting too. I would only use the bonded ones. The rivets will eventually start to scratch the rotors/drums, and ruin those faster than just with the smooth bonded area. I want to make a suggestion to you. Add a few categories to your poll for everybody to vote which style they prefer better. Example: (1)Pads with rivets. (2)Pads without rivets. (3)Shoes with rivets. (4)Shoes without rivets.
