After 2 days of fiddling about I have completed my dual battery install under the hood with a 55ah deep cycle battery.
Any one can with basic welding skills can bang out a tray and its simple to rig up the electrics
The second tray sits down 25mm lower than the main tray to go with the wheel arch curve. I used some small bolts and lock tigthed the 2 trays together prior to welding along the top and underside.
I used a piece of metal pipe under the second tray support to sit it up from resting on I think are abs lines.
This piece of pipe was a test and adjust to cut to length, as the battery was fowling on the bonnet, so I shaved a bit off and with tightening the bolt it pulled the plate lower. I also elongated the hole on the side mounting plate to allow greater adjustment.
The redarc solenoid is mounted to the tray behind the main battery.
I used 2 battery hook bolts and a piece of the flat bar to secure it all in place.
Hooked it up and the car started and didn't catch fire so I must have hooked it up correctly. Running my portable fridge overnight, pluged into the 12v socket at the back of the console which has constant power prior to hooking it all up, to make sure it's all working sweet. Fingers crossed the car fires up in the morning, and the beers will be cold.
Ill be testing out the trays durability in a few days time on a few corrugated dirt roads.
