So for about a 2 months now my neighbor has complained that his driver's side windshield wiper didn't work very well. He told me he had tried several different brands of blades with no improvement. The last one he purchased was a very expensive blade, costing nearly $20. I asked if he'd tried cleaning the glass well, as perhaps it had oil or wax on it and that was contaminating the blade. He said he'd try that, then later reported still no improvement. This went on for about 2 months (I never actually saw the vehicle). Then one day I ran into him at the store and while we were talking in the parking lot, I happened to notice that his driver's side windshield wiper blade wasn't even touching the glass. The arm was bent and the blade was about 1/2" away from the glass... Dumb-ass. How could he expect that to work? I know that not everyone knows about cars, or is mechanically inclined, but come on. Even my wife could have figured this one out.
